Prevent Diseases Through Dental Care

Prevent disease occurrence by having dental treatment! Periodontal disease is the primary disease which can be incurred when failed to have dental care. It is an infection of the teeth, gums and the bone surrounding the teeth. The main cause of periodontal disease is the accumulation of plaque, the food and bacteria that forms constantly on your teeth. If the bacteria and plaques will be continually accumulated, toxins will be produced. When these toxins combined with the body’s reaction, it destroys the bone around your teeth. Once bone has been lost, it never grows back on its own. When too much bone is lost, there is so little support for the teeth. These are the symptoms of periodontal disease – bad breath, bleeding of the gums, soft, swollen or tender gums, gums pulling away from the teeth and loose teeth. Having a periodontal disease is actually hard to notice. Even people with this kind of disease are hardly aware of it.

Because of this, periodontal probing and x-rays are recommended for examination. Periodontal probing measures the depths of the pockets in your gums. More than three millimeters is a sign of having a periodontal disease. The deeper the pocket, the wider the spread of the disease. X-rays tells a lot about periodontal disease. It shows the position of the teeth, unnoticeable tartar and so on. Failure to dental care does not only stop there. The truth is, periodontal disease can be linked to heart disease, strokes, diabetes, pregnancy complication, respiratory ailments, rheumatoid arthritis, pancreatic cancer and dementia. Also, there is a link between stress and dental health. People under stress find it hard to fight off the bacteria that causes periodontal disease and makes them more prone to gum infection. Because of this, we perform a thorough examination such as periodontal probing and x-rays.
